Our flat is situated on the ground floor of an early 20th century buinding. The flat was for a long time a simple proletarian dwelling. Subsequently, for years, it was used as a warehouse by an adjacent business building umbrellas for open-air grocery markets. When we bought it, it was an empty and dusty space asking to be brought back to life again. The flat is a small (50sqm) open space loft, separated in two main areas by a structural arch (almost 5 meters high). The first area, that overlooks via dei Lucani, is occupied by the open-space kichen. It is charaterised by two high lateral arches which we decided to colour with a warm rust-red. This is the brightest part of the flat, as light enters from a French-window, which can be used to access the flat also. Crossing to the other half of the flat, you can find the bedroom, which can be reached by climbing a light yellow metal spiral staircase. Right below the mezzanine that houses the bedroom, there is a cosy living room (with a sofa bed) and a compact but comfortable bathroom with shower. The flat has two entrances: one from via dei Lucani and one from the main building entrace, situated on via dei Campani.
