YouTube: Orte Palazzo Alberti via Gioberti Elegant large apartment for rent in a historic building from the 1500s overlooking the central square of Orte. The building was built in 1560 by the Alberti family, whose coat of arms is in the center of the vault of the entrance door. The apartment is 215 square meters, located on the second floor, with an 11 square meter balcony overlooking the square and the cathedral. It consists of 1 kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 dining room. Since the large rooms are partially furnished, they can easily be used for whatever purpose you want to give them. The apartment is completely renovated and the work is nearing completion. On the third floor there are attics with access from a door located along the corridor that leads to the dining room. The extension in square meters is approximately equivalent to that of the apartment. There are no condominium fees and the heating is autonomous with methane. HISTORICAL NOTES: The central stone of the vault of the entrance door has an engraved image of four chains moving from the corners of the stone and joined in the center by a ring, symbol of the origin of the noble Alberti family, coming from the Alps of Catenaia in the Arezzo area. Those familiar with the Ortana tradition cannot fail to notice how the gold chain on a blue background is also the symbol of Sant' Angelo, one of the seven districts of the medieval eighth of Orte which took its coat of arms. The Alberti family had a central role in the political and economic life of Florence in the 15th and 16th centuries, together with the Medici family with whom they established good working relationships. Their presence in the municipality of Orte certainly dates back to 1373, documented by a notarial deed of land purchase. In this regard, it is important to remember that in the second half of the 14th century, the Alberti family was forced, under different circumstances, into exile from Florence at least 3 times. It was during this period that members of the family moved to live in various cities in Italy and Europe: Bologna, Genoa, Venice, Paris, London, Brussels, Bruges... In Orte, the Albertis made their fortune in the wool trade and built 6 palaces. 5 in the historic center: in via della Rocca, in via Venezia, in piazza Federico Fratini, in via Gioberti, in via Garibaldi, and a summer residence in the countryside in the locality of Vocabolo Alberti. The laboratories for processing and dyeing wool were built in the tuff caves under the Palazzo della Rocca, where the remains are still visible today in the arches dug into the tuff. The palace in via Gioberti was owned by the Albertis until the beginning of the 19th century, when Sevastio gave it as a dowry to his daughter Chiara, who married Count Rosci. Even today the Rosci coat of arms is present on the fireplace on the 1st floor. The Rosci then, in the second half of the 19th century, sold the palace to Prince Colonna di Amelia. Finally at the beginning of the 20th century the palace was purchased by the Moretti family--dfb0!
