2 rooms apartment of 71m² in Catania

After years based in The Netherlands and travelling around I decided to create a home in Catania, the city dominated by the powerful presence of Etna - which locals call 'La Signora'. Its presence enchanted me, and made me search for my space here. The apartment was largely renovated by myself, and I enjoyed every step of the process. Divided in two levels, it has all amenities of modern living, while retaining its traditional charms: the wooden shutters, the 'cementine' decorated tiles in 'Liberty' style so typical of this region, and the arched high ceilings in the main rooms. It unites history and convenience. There is a main bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite toilet/ basin, a guest room (which I use as an office/ study when on my own) with a day bed that can be converted into a double, with a luminous balcony facing the street. The living/ dining room, with its high ceilings, is a great place to chill after long sightseeing days - or even listen to some of my music collection. The upstairs area has a new, modern kitchen with all that is needed to prepare all sorts of meals - I'm passionate for cooking - and it gives access to the bathroom (and the bathtub) plus another long, open balcony to the buildings inner courtyard. This balcony has a sitting area where it is possible to read, work, relax or have quick meals. The apartment is situated in the historic city center of Catania, a stone's throw from the Piazza del Duomo, the Catedrale di Sant'Agata, the Fontana dell'Elefante, the legendary fish market and many of the city's milestones. Restaurants, bars, bakeries, shops, the amazing Sicilian 'pasticcerias'... so much to discover around! Catania is also a gateway to the island. From here iconic cities/ villages like Taormina, Siracusa, Noto, Ragusa among many others can be reached either by car or by bus.
